Tax Season 2026 covers income earned between 1 March 2025 and 28 February 2026. Whether you are a salaried employee, a freelancer, a business owner, a trust, or a company, your deadline is different. Use the filter below to see only the dates that apply to you.
All dates sourced from SARS
These are the officially announced SARS 2026 filing season dates. Always confirm payment dates against the official SARS tax calendar for public holiday shifts.
SARS automatically assesses taxpayers using data from employers, banks, medical schemes, and retirement funds. If you receive an auto-assessment, review it carefully. If you agree, no action is needed. If you disagree, file a corrected ITR12 by your applicable deadline.
If you miss it: This is a notice, not a deadline. You cannot miss it. If you disagree with an auto-assessment, file a correction by 23 October 2026 (non-provisional) or 22 January 2027 (provisional).

Final date for salaried individuals who are not provisional taxpayers to submit their ITR12 for the 2026 year of assessment. The filing window runs from 13 July to 23 October 2026.
If you miss it: Administrative non-compliance penalties of R250 to R16,000 per month, recurring every month the return stays outstanding, up to 35 months. Interest may apply on any tax owed. Filing the outstanding return stops further penalties immediately.
Final date for provisional taxpayers and trusts to submit their income tax return for the 2026 year of assessment. Freelancers, business owners, landlords, directors, and investors with untaxed income typically fall into this category. Confirm your provisional taxpayer status with SARS before relying on this deadline.
If you miss it: Administrative non-compliance penalties (R250–R16,000 per month, up to 35 months). Provisional taxpayers may also face under-estimation and late-payment penalties on provisional tax itself.

Second provisional tax payment: IRP6 P2

Second provisional tax payment for the 2027 year of assessment, due by the last business day of February. 28 February 2027 is a Sunday, so the last working day is Friday 26 February 2027.
If you miss it: Under-estimation penalty of up to 20% if taxable income is materially under-estimated, plus a 10% late-payment penalty and interest.
Every registered company must submit an ITR14 within 12 months of its financial year-end, regardless of size, profit or loss, or whether it traded. The exact date depends on your company's own year-end. For example, a company with a February 2026 year-end must file by 28 February 2027.
If you miss it: Administrative penalties for outstanding company returns, plus interest on any tax owed. Contact Dyantyi Chartered to ensure your company's ITR14 is submitted on time.
